The Special School District (SSD) works with parents and educators to help identify educational concerns and develop an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). An IEP is a meeting where parents, students (if appropriate) and school personnel make decisions about an educational program for a student with a disability. It is also the written document of the decisions reached at the meeting for the student who will receive special education and related services and it is a management tool used to implement an educational program specific to the student's needs.

To begin the process, fill out our eligibility form to see if you are qualified to receive an application. Once accepted into our program, you will begin one-on-one homeownership counseling and our pre-purchase education. In this phase, you’ll build savings, reduce debt and work toward mortgage readiness. After completing counseling, you will be ready to get pre-approved for a mortgage to purchase your new home. This might mean buying a home built or renovated by Habitat KC, or buying a home on the open market. Either way, we’ll be there every step of the way.

Accepts donated new children's clothing.

This program helps detect breast & cervical cancers in their earliest stages when they are easiest to treat. Free mammograms & pap tests will be provided to women who meet income and age requirements. Other services for women are offered at this sight.

Utility Assistance: Provides assistance to low-income individuals for water bill assistance. Partial payments are made to avoid utility cut-offs.

Provides psychiatry services to help people resolve their personal or interpersonal difficulties they are experiencing.

Provides HSE (High School Equivalency) test preparation.

Provides outreach services including audiology, deaf education consultation, speech and language consultations and community Sign Language Instruction.

Provides flu vaccines.

Provide legal services to people seeking to protect public health by preserving or improving the environment.

Health screenings are provided for the following: Cardiovascular, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV, Diabetes, Lead, and tuberculosis. Other screenings available upon request.

Slater Housing Authority provides housing options to low income residents of Saline County.

Provides noon meals and home-delivered meals.

The library is open to the general public as a Cooling/Warming center during periods of extreme heat or cold.

Provides various exercise classes including chair and yoga exercises.

Catholic Charities provides Happy Bottoms diapers.

WILS provides access to information geared toward promoting independent living. WILS also provides referral services to groups and agencies that handle specific issues or have programs suitable to an individual’s needs in the community.

First Steps offers coordinated services and assistance to young children with special needs and their families.

Provides sheltered employment for adults with developmental disabilities who are certified by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation as being unable to work in a competitive environment.

Provides free legal representation to low income clients in a number of civil legal problems; criminal defense representation is not provided; they handle cases involving public benefits, housing, unemployment compensation, family, consumer, education, employment, health and other matters.
