The training equips participants to effectively respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises with compassion and understanding. The goal is to ensure that people in crisis are diverted from jail, when appropriate, and instead, are connected to emergency, inpatient, or community-based mental health services. The CIT approach treats a person's illness with care, rather than criminalization.
