The Missouri Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) Program provides assistance that helps Missouri adults get the basic skills they need to be productive workers, family members, and citizens. The major areas of support are Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education, and English Language Acquisition. These programs emphasize basic skills such as reading, writing, math, English language competency, and problem-solving.

Self-help, self-supporting program for persons desiring to stop using drugs and alcohol. Program is based on the 12-Steps To Recovery of Narcotics Anonymous.

Utility Assistance: Provides assistance to low-income individuals for electric bill assistance. Partial payments are made to avoid utility cut-offs.

The walk in crisis clinic is available for individuals in a mental crisis. This includes assessment by a case manager, possible session with a therapist and ongoing case management.

Donated Dental Services assists individuals with permanent disabilities, compromising medical conditions, or elderly (65+) in obtaining comprehensive dental care. This may include dentures if necessary.

Provides individual occupational therapy services to a variety of diagnoses.

• Midwest Children's Burn Camp (MCBC): Young people who have survived burn injury and smoke inhalation spend a week with others who have also experienced the trauma of burn injuries. Campers enjoy adventures including high and low ropes courses, arts and crafts, river activities, archer, horseback riding, and team building exercises.

• Changing Times: A weekend retreat offering practical life skills and resources for entering adulthood whether that includes college, technical school, or the working world.

• Family Camp: This special weekend offers the chance for young people and their families to spend time with others who have gone through similar experiences.

Confidential post-abortion recovery support groups available.

CSL helps with electric bills when funding is available

Provides one-on-one personal financial counseling; works out repayment arrangements with creditors; helps clients get relief from collector phone calls, over-limit fees, and late fees with credit card companies and other unsecured debt; assists with budgeting, debt management plans and credit education; provides pre-filing bankruptcy counseling.

Agency-directed in-home attendant program for individuals with physical disabilities or health problems; services include housekeeping, cooking, homemaker chores, diabetic nail care, respite care, approved nurse visits, diabetic nail care, etc.; agency provides attendant or nurse; also offers Healthy Children and Youth Attendant Care and Veterans Attendant Care.

The Low Vision Demonstration Center allows individuals with visual impairment to try out a variety of low vision tools.

Services are offered for children and parents involved in the adoption process. These include the evaluation of the child's needs prior to placement, and arrangements for care of the child prior to the child's adoptive placement and to the approval of the adoptive family. Also, special activities are provided to help adoptive parents and children adjust to the new family situation.

Provide sexually transmitted disease (STD) screening for participants.

The Missouri Board of Probation and Parole, as an essential part of the criminal justice system, is to provide for the professional assessment and release of offenders and their supervision in the community, using appropriate treatment, sanctions, and controls, with the primary consideration being promotion of public safety.

Health screenings are provided for the following: Cardiovascular, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV, Diabetes, Lead, and tuberculosis. Other screenings available upon request.

Provides classes on public speaking for youth.

Offers a variety of social, cultural and recreational activities for children, youth, members and non-members. Activities includes field trips, holiday fun clubs, art classes, Teen Nights, Kid's Night Out, School's Out, sports leagues, etc.

Health, wellness and nutrition education.

Environmental Health Protection Division: Offers a variety of environmental health services, including investigations of restaurant unsanitary conditions and food poisoning.

The Health Department is available as a cooling center during declared heat emergencies during normal business hours. Water and restrooms are available.

Provides mental health evaluation and counseling for a variety of needs, such as stress management. Counseling may include the use of hypnotherapy.
