Person stating that they are the parent may leave an infant (without fear of prosecution) in the hands of staff. A parent will not be prosecuted for leaving their newborn at a safe haven if they follow the laws, assuming the child is under 45 days old and shows no signs of abuse or neglect.

Home-based Head Start provides a home visitor who comes once a week to collaborate with parents to provide a developmentally-appropriate education for their child/ren. They use the home environment to strengthen parent-child interactions while helping set up daily routines and working on social-emotional skills. Parents build leadership skills and learn about community resources while their children interact with other children during monthly socializations.
