Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service.

Family-centered services are provided to families and children in their own homes when a child abuse or neglect investigation/family assessment response determination is preponderance of evidence, unsubstantiated-preventive services indicated, or services needed. Services include a range of treatment and support services and are provided, as appropriate to the case treatment plan.

Community clinic with childhood immunizations.

Health screenings are provided for the following: Cardiovascular, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV, Diabetes, Lead, and tuberculosis. Other screenings available upon request.

The SkillUP program provides SNAP participants opportunities to gain skills, training, or experience that will improve their ability to attain employment and decrease their dependency on public assistance programs. The intention of the SkillUP program is rapid attachment to work that leads to self-sufficiency for individuals and families. The program offers job search training, education, and supportive services to participants. The SkillUP program provides short-term training in the quickest possible time in order to lead to employment. Training should be completed within one year or less, must align with the participant’s employment plan, and lead to employment and self-sufficiency.

The Missouri Board of Probation and Parole, as an essential part of the criminal justice system, is to provide for the professional assessment and release of offenders and their supervision in the community, using appropriate treatment, sanctions, and controls, with the primary consideration being promotion of public safety.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families: Provides benefits to families with needy children (due to death, desertion, mental, physical problems or unemployment).

Federal probation, parole and pre-trial offices.

Provides cat and dog food. Availability depends on donations.

Provides teen family planning and teen pregnancy prevention programs and birth control counseling.

Pathways provides comprehensive mental health and substance abuse treatment and prevention services to pre-adolescent children through older adult populations. Also provides mental health diagnostic screenings.

Provided pediatric services.

Provides clothing vouchers to the St. Vincent DePaul thrift store to those who are unable to purchase clothing on their own.

Provides foot screening, blood pressure and sugar checks and TB, STD, and HIV/AIDS tests.

The Police Athletic League of Kansas City, Inc. offers enrichment programs for disadvantaged youth. A community garden and orchard are available. Citizens can help tend the garden and orchard or help themselves to food as needed.

Residential Services or Individualized Supported Living (ISL) services are available to those individuals who have a need to move out of their current living situation and into a home of their own. Supported Living Services allows an individual to live in a home of their own, often with a roommate. ISL services and supports are individually planned and budgeted for each individual person served. Services are designed to assist individuals in acquiring, retaining and improving their self-help, socialization and activities of daily living depending upon the needs of the individual.

Provides a chamber of commerce for businesses to connect.

Jackson County Health Department provides case management for adults with traumatic brain injury. They evaluate and assess needs, create a service plan of interventions to meet the individual's needs, and provide assistance in locating/assessing services such as medical care, housing, counseling, transportation, rehabilitation, vocational training and annual evaluations and updates.

Provides baby diapers by request if available.

Individuals or families needing to place their child(ren) into foster care should contact the office to discuss options.

The Heart of America Council serves more than 16,000 youth and 6,000 volunteers in 19 counties in eastern Kansas and Western Missouri. Programs of the BSA instill values and assist youth in building self-esteem and self reliance through outdoor experiences, education, instructional skills, recognition and leadership opportunities.

Offers a strengths perspective, faith-based outpatient program which includes mental health assessment, recovery and case management, counseling, life skills and referrals.

Provides free legal representation to low income clients in a number of civil legal problems; criminal defense representation is not provided; they handle cases involving public benefits, housing, unemployment compensation, family, consumer, education, employment, health and other matters.
