CAPACares' Healthy Families Jackson County program is a home visiting program for new parents with children up to 3 years of age. CAPACares and community partners work to ensure each family receives the necessary support to help their child grow up healthy in a safe and nurturing environment. Activities include: case management, child developmental education, parent mentoring, referral to community services, smoking cessation support, connection to health care, positive discipline education, and parent skill development for stress management.

Physical examinations and laboratory studies required for school admission, child care, and employment are provided at the Leavenworth County Health Department by a physician and/or a physician assistant (PA) and a registered nurse. We cannot provide sports physical examinations.

Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Program: Providing supplemental nutritional food to pregnant women, breastfeeding women up to one year, infants and children up to age 5 and women up to 6 months postpartum.

Promotes the personal development of boys and girls, 5-18 years of age, with special concern for the disadvantaged, by offering services that build self-esteem, values and skills. Programs build Character and Leadership and teach Healthy Life Skills, Public Speaking and Technology. Also offers programs in Education and Careers.

Offers after-school programs, summer camps, athletic programs, and character and leadership skills that guide and direct youth ages 6-18 years from all backgrounds, with special concern for those from at-risk circumstances. Activities teaches youth the value of life, strengthens self-esteem, and makes better citizens in the community.

The purpose of the MO HealthNet program is to provide medical services to persons who meet certain eligibility requirements as determined by FSD. The goals of the MO HealthNet program are to promote good health, to prevent illness and premature death, to correct or limit disability, to treat illness, and to provide rehabilitation to persons with disabilities. Eligible persons receive a "MO HealthNet Identification Card" or a letter from the local FSD office. The Family Support Division (FSD) determines client eligibility for the MO HealthNet program: the MO HealthNet Division administers the MO HealthNet program including establishment of benefit coverage, rates, claims processing, and all other aspects of daily operations.

Career Counseling: Provides job counseling to help individuals expand their job opportunities.

Accepts donations of new or gently used toys and games.

Recruits and maintains individuals and families that want to foster children in Missouri.

This program is responsible for inspecting: food establishments, private water and sewage, septic systems, day care inspections, daily incoming complaints, and other environmental health issues.

This office provides applications for TANF. This assistance can be provided to needy families with children and provide parents with job preparation, work and support services to enable them to leave the program and become self-sufficient.

Individual therapy is available for adults, children (ages 5+), families, and significant others.

Provides emergency assistance to individuals on a case by case basis. Assistance would be provided only if no other funding source is available and if agency has funding at the time of the requested need.
