"Case Management: Strengths-based, client centered, and trauma-informed goal setting, resource referrals, and service linkages emphasizing housing, health, and self-sufficiency for clients assessing shelter and/or outreach services. A full-time Bi-Lingual Case Manager assists clients with limited English proficiency. Targeted Advocacy and Therapy (Hawthorne Place Apartments): Strengths-based, client centered, and trauma-informed goal setting, resource referrals, service linkages, and crisis intervention as well as individual and group therapy services offered onsite at Hawthorne Place Apartments, an income based rental complex located in Independence, MO. Court Advocacy: Assistance in thirteen area courts including order of protection court, as well as lethality assessment programs with nine area municipal police departments. Co-Responding Advocacy: Partnership with the Independence Police Department to provide crisis intervention services, advocacy, and resource referrals and linkages to survivors contacting the police for assistance. The Co-Responding Advocate also coordinates revisits to survivors’ homes with Independence Police officers to offer additional support and resources. Civil Legal Program: Representation to address the broad range of civil legal issues encountered by survivors such as protection orders, child support, child custody, divorce, paternity, etc. Contract Attorneys provide legal representation while a full time Paralegal and Legal Advocate provide support and case management services. Client Assistance Fund: Direct financial assistance to help survivors remove common barriers to achieving self-sufficiency and securing and/or maintaining safe and affordable permanent housing. Specialized and Ancillary Services: Services designed to meet the practical, emotional, and material needs of survivors as they work toward safety, stability, and healing. These services provide for survivors’ basic needs through an onsite clothing closet and food pantry as well as holiday food baskets; offer necessary material goods such as household essentials, school supplies, holiday/birthday gifts; and address survivors’ health, safety and well-being through on onsite dental clinic staffed with volunteer dentists and hygienist and laundry facilities and offering security equipment such as cameras, Ring doorbells, and window/door locks."
