This fire department is a safe haven for persons wishing to legally surrender physical custody of their infant. A parent or other person having lawful custody of an infant may leave the infant (without fear of prosecution) in the hands of staff. A parent will not be prosecuted for leaving their newborn at a safe haven if they follow the laws, assuming the child is under 60 days old and shows no signs of abuse or neglect.

Prescription Drug Program: Working with Rx Outreach provides a 90 to 180 day renewable prescription is submitted through our 143 participating parish conferences, based on prescriptions written by physician, clinic or hospital. Vouchers are mailed and Rx is mailed to clients.

The Northland Animal Welfare Society, Inc. (NAWS) assists with low-cost micro-chipping for pets in need. They are not a full service veterinarian; injured and sick pets are not accepted.
