If someone is experiencing literal unsheltered homelessness, they can reach out to be assessed for placement on the Housing Prioritization List for Northwest Missouri. Coordinated Entry (CE) is not a housing program, and an assessment does not guarantee housing placement. CE is the first step in potential referral to a local HUD or state funded housing program, and provides resources for assistance in your area.

Adult Protective Services (APS) responds to reports of abuse, neglect or exploitation of adults.

Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care provides care to patients in their homes and in long-term care. Their Carousel Pediatric Hospice & Palliative Care team works to meet the unique needs of children who are facing a serious illness, and their families.

Legal Aid of Western Missouri provides free legal representation and counsel to low-income residents in civil (non-criminal) matters. Priority is given to cases involving housing, employment, domestic abuse, immigration, consumer problems and public benefits. Legal Aid has a limited capacity for cases due to capacity, so assistance may be limited at this time. Eviction assistance outside of RTC or Section 8 is not available. If the client is faced with a court eviction within the city limits of Kansas City, please have them complete a RTC application through 211. If the client is experiencing a voucher termination or an eviction of their Section 8 housing, they can contact Legal Aid to do an application for assistance.

Provide various weight management education classes taught by professionals.

The transitional housing program provides 90 days of rent and utility free housing, in a private, fully furnished apartment, to homeless households in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Adults in the household are required to find and maintain 32-40 hours per week of employment upon program entry, and to attend weekly counseling sessions in budgeting, case management, life-skills, and community living, to support the skills necessary for independent living.

Mid-Continent Public Library is a public library system in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The library offers varied programming for children and adults, including book clubs, story times, job finding classes and technology instruction. The library also schedules adult enrichment programs, such as cooking and arts and crafts instruction.

The Kansas Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (KSFMNP) is providing low-income seniors who meet age and income requirements with $50 in checks to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and honey from authorized farmers at local participating farmers markets June 1 through Sept 15th. Checks are available in $5 increments. Funds are limited and available on a first come first served basis.
