Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers
Individuals dealing with substance abuse can receive an Access to Recovery voucher to stay at an approved transitional housing site for 28-30 day stay.
Offers public housing based on income to low-income individuals. They permit the individuals or families to live in the city owned property, paying rent, for up to five years in order to get credit and personal situation settled. Then the individual or family have the option to obtain their own financing to purchase the property.
Provide permanent and transitional housing services for men that are chronically homeless and have a disability.
The Olathe Housing Authority provides affordable housing to low income Olathe residents. Options include one bedroom units in Parkview Manor or 1-4 bedroom scattered site units.
Independence Housing Authority strives to provide safe, clean and affordable housing to low income families and individuals through Section 8 vouchers. Anyone in need of housing is eligible to apply.
The Transitional Housing Program serves families with moderate barriers. Clients live on their campus in a fully furnished apartment. They work with case managers and volunteers to learn financial literacy, job readiness, and various life skills.
The housing authority provides public housing to individuals wanting to live in Higginsville
HPC Young Adult Housing Program provides safe housing, supportive case management, educational and employment guidance with life skills classes for homeless young adults and/or teen parents between the ages of 17-23. Participants may remain in the program based upon the desired life track chosen. This program is designed with four different tracks including a college, trade specific high school/Hi-set, as well as career and employment tracks to ensure participants graduate the program with a skill set that will provide them higher than minimum wage employment.
My Father's House is a transitional housing program for single women and families with children that provides case management to homeless persons.
River of Refuge transitions homeless families with jobs from motels, shelters, and other unsuitable living conditions into permanent housing. They provide lodging and services for the working poor, providing them with a direct alternative to pay-by-the-week living arrangements and giving them the opportunity to receive resources needed to be successful in permanent housing.

The transitional housing program provides 90 days of rent and utility free housing, in a private, fully furnished apartment, to homeless households. Adults in the household are required to find and maintain 30-40 hours per week of employment upon program entry, and to attend weekly counseling sessions in budgeting, case management, life-skills, and community living, to support the skills necessary for independent living.
Cameron Housing Authority offers affordable housing options to low income families and individuals.
Low-income housing
Help with Section 8 Housing vouchers
Hillcrest provides a transitional housing program for homeless youth, ages 16-24. Youth housing sites are located in Kansas City, KS and Overland Park, KS and Independence, MO. Youth transitional housing is up to a 24-month program. During this time, Hillcrest provides a rent- and utility-free apartment, access to a food pantry, and case management.
Takes referrals through the coordinated entry system for housing and housing related services for unhoused and low-income individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS, mental illness or substance abuse. See www.gkcceh.org for more information on coordinated entry.

The Cornerstones of Care Pathways Transitional Living Program offers safe housing and wrap-around supportive services for young adults, 16-23, who are aging out of the foster care system or who have been unhoused. At Pathways, youth complete their education and learn life skills that they need in order to become more self-sufficient. A group home and apartments are located in Kanas City, MO and Kansas City, KS.
